So since I've been here in London, I've had to go back to dorm life. Now I've spoiled myself since my last time living in a dorm. Own room, own bathroom, full size bed; I could even walk around naked if the mood stuck, but NO, not anymore. Now I'm the middle child out of three boys, so I'm use to sharing space, but I hate using public bathrooms. Here are my top 5 reasons why:

1. Every morning I wake up to take the usual morning piss,I am always greeted by some dude walking out the shower a$$ed naked. Another dude's love below is NEVER the first thing I want to see in the morning or any other time of the day for that matter. I mean da*m, it cant be that hard to walk out the shower with a towel on.....

2. I don't know about you, but I hate when I'm on the toilet letting out a #2, and someone sits on the toilet beside me and does the same thing. Now, not only do I have to remain focused, but I have to suffer listening to the guy next to me struggling to squeeze out a fat one...it's the worst

3. You realize how many people you "dap up" on a daily basis who don't wash their hands after using the toilet,rather it's a #1 or #2...Just plain nasty.

4. The toilet paper in all public bathrooms is cheap and itchy. You have to go through a whole role to get yourself clean.

5. Dudes can't aim. There is no reason for a 18+ year old dude to be pissing all over the toilet...PERIOD

Stay Classy Barcelona

I loved everything about Barcelona. Hands down, it has been my best experience outside of the US borders. The scenery was spectacular, weather was nice, and the people were really nice ( I was kinda surprised). Only negative, I CAN'T speak Spanish! I've got so many stories that I don't even know where to begin. Drinking flaming shots, hoping over the train tracks in the Barcelona metro (crazy I know), talking to females who couldn't understand what I was saying, partying to the sun came up, and so much more.

So you probably like, why in the HELL did you jump over train tracks?!?....So here's what happened, me and my homeboy Randall was stumbling down to the metro after our first night there, like 2am....We ended up walking to the wrong ramp, which would have put us on the train heading the wrong way. So Randall had a genius idea, he said " Yo Tay, why don't we just hop over the tracks to get to the other side"( in his drunk Cali voice), and I'm like, " Hell yea, great idea"(I'm so stupid)... mind you we could have just walked back up the ramp and over to the other ramp to get to the other side, but for some reason that night it seem as if that would have took forever....So we jump down into the tracks, walk over the tracks and hopped up the other side...retarded right?

I've go so many more stories from that trip, but it would take forever to type them all, I guess you just gotta catch me around to get the rest, but I will leave you with some video footage from my trip.....PS Don't drink a flaming shot until the fire is completely gone.....

Not Your Typical Circus

Cirque Du Soleil (Circus Sol-lay) is an extraordinary arrangement of some of the most breathtaking feats I've ever seen. No lions, tigers and bears here. Just amazing performances and very funny clowns (not your typical clown by the way) performing brief comical sketches in between acts. I think there was a story line behind the show, but I didn't quite catch on to it. None the less it was still a great show whether you catch it or not. One other aspect of Cirque Du Soleil that I enjoyed was the fact that there was a live band playing throughout the night for each act. They played some pretty cool music. Regardless of your feelings about the circus, clowns, etc; Cirque Du Soleil is a must see for any and all ages. After all, it's not your typical circus.

Just got back from Paris........I kinda got mixed feelings about my trip there.

The Positives:

-Paris is an absolutely beautiful city. The Eiffel Tower, The Arc de Triomphe, and The Notre Dame Cathedral are all some of the most amazing structures I've ever seen in my life. (Quick FYI, I've always thought the Eiffel Tower was black....Nope, wrong, it's brown). I thought the entire design of the city was pretty cool. You probably won't be able to tell from the pictures, but I thought it was crazy how one round-about would have like 10 different streets you could turn off on.

-Getting around in Paris wasn't that hard. They have a really good train system, and it's real easy to understand (as long as you know the stop you wanna get off at). I was worried about getting lost in Paris at first, but I never did because it was so easy to get around.

-French women are GORGEOUS..wait gorgeous maybe a bit much...how about very pretty. I saw women working in restaurants, working at the museum, and cleaning restrooms who I thought could all be on model status.

-(Disclaimer: This one is not really a positive or negative, it all depends on the person) Paris is for LOVERS. PDA is everywhere. Restaurants, museums, bars, the streets, the stores, EVERYWHERE. Not just holding hands either; I'm talking, kissing (the french kind of course), feeling on each other, I mean stuff I don't see in the streets of Greensboro or the DMV.

The Negatives

-The first day I was there it snowed. This also happened to be the same day I went to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I was cool to be at the top, but it was cold as fcuk(cool people get it) at the top. Plus I really could see anything off in the distance.

-French people's personalities SUCK. Not all, but a lot of them. For some reason I can't understand they don't like Americans that much and they don't like speaking English. They are more willing to work with you if you attempt to speak french though. I guess that one year of french I took in high school did pay off.

-For the first time ever in my life I was denied entry to a club. After looking stuck for like 10 seconds I was like.. WTF, these mutha_____racist as______ , and I was ready to let them know how I felt whether they understood what I was gonna say/gesture or not. Then I was like wait, I'm not tryna to 1. Catch a mean a$$ whoopin by security with no one to back me up and 2. get locked up abroad. Then I saw more people that I was with (people of European decent aka not black people) turned away too. The reason we didn't get in turned out to be because we where American guys, speaking English. I'm still pretty mad about that.

All and all the trip was OK, and I wouldn't mind going back.

Simba, Mufasa,Nala,Rafiki, Timon & Pumbaa, all characters in my favorite movie of all time. I'm just getting back from seeing The Lion King Musical and if I had to describe it in one word -ASTONISHING. The special effects, AMAZING. The costumes, BREATH-TAKING. The characters literally exploded out of their human forms and each animal was accurately portrayed to a tee. I laughed, cried, and sang along to each and every song. I'm still in dis-belief over how such a classic story could be illustrated over such a small stage. It was truly an experience that I'm going to remember forever. I even managed to sneak a few pictures of the show. Hakuna Matata-it means no worries.......

O yea....Zazu stole the show in my eyes.....

Since I've been over here, I feel as though I haven't completely been myself. The only time I felt like the real Tay B was when my friend was here. I think that may just be it; I don't have any of my true friends experiencing this with me. Don't get me wrong, I've met some pretty cool people and all, but I find myself taking a more quit and observant role rather than my usual out-spoken demeanor. I guess it's just one of those things that's going to help me grow as a person, so I'm taking it all in stride.

Random Thoughts from today

For some odd reason, I notice two random things about London-town (in my Kanye voice) today.

1. People don't litter here. What makes this more surprising (well at least to me), London doesn't have a lot of trash cans (rubbish cans). London is really paranoid about bombs, so the don't have to many trash cans on the streets as a precaution. So, where is all the trash going........

2. I have yet to see a fat British person. Maybe because the portions over here are so small and the food isn't heavily seasoned,or maybe people care more about there health in general. I don't know what it is, but I didn't realize how out-of shape America is as a whole until I got here....

Amsterdam

Ok, so you know by now that I took a visit to Amsterdam. If you ever intend to go, here are a few things you should know:

1. Everything is LEGAL !
2. The Coffee Shops don't sell coffee, all mary jane (well maybe a little coffee too)
3. All the street names are crazy long and all sound the same
4. Don't get caught taking pictures of the protitues in the Red Light Distirct or else (we managed to get one though :-) )
5. If you want to take a picture with the street preformers, please tip them, or it will get ugly fast
6. If you stay in a Hostel, sleep with all your clothes on
7. Always be on the look-out for your passport
8. The Red Light District is acutlally surrounded by Red Lights.
9. If your into the whole paying to have sex thing; you can choose from a row a prostitues. It's like going to the store almost (50 euro min) (No I didn't do it, I just asked one what was the price)

They say everything happens for a reason, whether we can see that reason or not, but at times like this I question that ideology. Maybe sh*t just happens sometimes for no reason at all. I can't begin to understand why someone took such a genuine person's life. Dennis was a good dude and this just proves that no matter how good of a person you are, or how you live your life, your tomorrow is never promised. Dennis, I will continue to keep your friends, family, and the Mu Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc in my prayers. Until the next time I see you on the other side.....

Day 1

Just finished my first day of classes after about a month and a half long break. I kinda look at this semester as a vacation because of how relaxed I made my schedule. I only have classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mostly in the morning...... So what am I gonna do with all that free time?......Mack and hang of course.......But just sitting in class today was kinda of amazing and a real break from the norm. For the most part I have been surrounded by BLACK people my entire life; I can pretty much count on my fingers the number of non-BLACKs that I've ever shared a classroom with. Now I love my people but we can be a handful at times so the break is kinda nice...well at least for the moment. As I listened to everyone introduce themselves in class I today, I was taken back by the large number of nationalities represented. I mean students from all over, Poland, The Congo, Zimbabwe, China, and The Middle East just to name a few. As far as class went, it was really typical, PowerPoint, lectures, and me fighting to stay awake......looks to be a very interesting semester to say the least.

Random things I've already noticed about the UK.....

1. Everyone has a scooter ! I've never seen so many people driving around on a scooter, as specially in December. While I was on the bus to my campus from the airport I was watching this person on a scooter weave in-and-out of traffic like he ( I just assume it was a guy) was filming the "Biker Boyz" Sequel, the UK version and I am thinking to myself, this must be one cocky dude who just don't give a f***. He was cutting people off like it was nothing. I'm like if this was DC he woulda been got hit or flipped the the bird or something, but Naw it was a young lady driving the scooter and all the people she cut off didn't seem to mind or was just use to it.

2. London is definitely not for the claustrophobic. It is a lot more compact than the US, well at least from what I seen so far. The cars are smaller and the streets are really narrow. I think people just like to be close to each other here in general.

3. So the sinks here have a separate hot water and cold water fountain....So what do you do if you want warm water? I don't have the slightest clue, I'll let you know when I find out.

4. The streets here are definitely not like your typical city. They don't go north - south like most cities. These streets curve and whine in a types of directions. On top of that, there aren't any street poles. It took me like three days before I realized that all the streets signs were on the side of buildings, and fences.

5. The cars drive on the opposite side of the road. Probably not a big deal to most people right?....Wrong, I never realized how natural it is to look in a certain direction when crossing the street until I got here and always end up looking the wrong way. I saw this random statistic on how the leading cause of injury to most tourist in the UK was car related and I really didn't pay it any attention. Like you gotta be stupid to get hit by a car....... Well after almost being hit by a car like 5 times, I look in every possible direction before I cross now.
